Largest sassafras tree in the USA - Owensboro, Kentucky

While not directly linked to any famous person, event, or location this tree is still very noteworthy. It is said to be the largest sassafras tree in the US and maybe in the world.

Happily, according to Keith Lawrence of the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer the famous sassafras tree was not damaged during the recent ice storm.
