John James Audubon golden rain tree - Panther Creek Park

A small tree museum was started at Panther Creek Park in Owensboro, Kentucky to celebrate Arbor Day in May of 2001. Stan LeMaster delivered the keynote address that year at the National Arbor Day celebration in Ohio.

Most of this information was gleaned from the Daviess County Audubon Society newsletter "The Goldfinch" which also contained the famous quote: "Too old to plant trees for my own gratification, I shall do it for posterity." Thomas Jefferson 1822.

During my research on this tree museum I found that Stan Lemaster had authored some book or pamphlet entitled "Stan Lemaster's Propagation of Historic Trees" which was evidently crammed full of tips regarding growing and caring for trees. I would love to find a copy of this out-of-print text.

To read about the arbor day ceremony visit the newsletter website and page down to the section entitled "Arbor Day 2001".
